Employers - Grant

You may be eligible for a financial incentive to assist you in recruiting an apprentice. The grant is aimed at encouraging eligible employers to offer young people aged 16-24 years old employment through the apprenticeship programme.

The details

  • Available now until March 2013* (on a first come, first served basis)
  • Grant value of £1500 (payable in two stages)
  • Up to 40,000 available to small-medium sized companies (less than 250 employees)
  • This must be your first apprentice within the last 3 years
  • Up to 3 grants can be made to any one employer (subject to availability)
  • The payment is a grant and exempt from VAT
  • In addition to free training costs

*Funding starts April 2012 however eligible employers who have employed a new apprentice from 1 February 2012 will be able to apply for the grant.
