Hull Training Faculty of Construction and Building Services

One in 10 people employed in the UK are in the construction industry. It is the largest industry and there is an increasing demand for qualified and skilled workers.

Traditionally, many people entered the construction industry as unskilled labourers and developed skills along the way, or they were fortunate enough to gain an Apprenticeship with an employer in a designated trade. Today, a range of options are available and we can provide hands-on training while you study for a nationally recognised qualification.

If you are interested in a career within this sector there are many options to choose from, such as brickwork, joinery, painting & decorating, and plastering occupations. Training opportunities linked to the needs of local business we believe that work-based learning will give you the opportunity to develop a high level of diverse skills and experience, making you more attractive to prospective employers.

For those who meet certain entry requirements, we can offer Apprenticeship in the following areas:
Trowel Occupations
 Painting and Decorating
 Wood Occupations

Throughout your training programme we will organise work experience and provide careers advice, so that you can plan for the future.

In response to local requirements of a versatile adaptable workforce we are now offering an apprenticeship in

  • Maintenance Occupations
The benefit is to give you a cross section of skills that will be attractive to local employers. Areas covered will include Painting & Decorating, Brickwork, Plastering, Joinery, plumbing and tiling.

What if I don’t meet the entry requirements?

We are currently running a foundation learning programme that will develop your hand & academic skills and allow you gain a level 1 Certificate in Building crafts (construction) you will also be supported with literacy & numeracy giving you the opportunity to progress onto the full apprenticeship programme.

Working in the community

We feel that it is important that we get you out of the centre to allow you to use the skills you have developed on additional projects.
