Who is this course for?

Those who wish to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety. Candidates should have some responsibility for health, safety and welfare of others. They should have a reasonable degree of authority and autonomy and have access to higher levels of management in their organisation and have the opportunity to research information and implement their recommendations.

What will I learn?

The aim of this qualification is to recognise the skills and competencies of candidates in the workplace. This qualification is about the support and development of good practice and awareness of all aspects of health and safety in the workplace. It is about the identification, control and monitoring of workplace incidents and risks. Promoting a culture of health and safety within the workplace is also addressed in this qualification. Candidates will have a degree of autonomy and authority and will be required to make decisions within agreed limits and boundaries.

To achieve this qualification, candidates must achieve a total of 31 credits made up as follows:

Group 1 , 5 mandatory units

• 1) Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to healht and safety
• 2) Develop procedures to safely control work operations
• 3) Monitor procedures to safley control work operations
• 4) Promote a culture of health and safety in the workplace
• 5) Conduct a health and safety risk assessment of the workplace

Group 2, 2 optional units

• 6) investigate and evaluate health and safety incidents and complaints in the workplace
• 7) Make sure actions in the workplace aim to protect the environment
• 8) Review health and safety procedures in the workplace
• 9) Supervise the health, safety and welfare of a learner in the workplace
