Who is this course for?

This course is aimed towards school leavers aged 16-18 years, who have an interest in a future career in Business and Administration. You should have a keen interest in developing a broad range of skills to work efficiently and to help increase business productivity.

What will I learn?

You will learn to use electronic forms of communication effectively, deal with visitors, handle post, use office equipment, use computer software and develop team working, communication and customer care skills.

Tasks may include:
  • Producing documents and preparing notes
  • Organising and co-ordinating events and meetings
  • Developing and delivering presentations
  • Providing reception services and using office equipment
  • Setting up and maintaining filing systems
  • Use of a variety of software packages
  • Updating information
  • Managing projects
On an Advanced Apprenticeship these skills could include developing systems and procedures, handling projects and supervising others.

How will I be assessed?

You will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and skills. This involves collecting details of work performed while in your work place.

Entry Requirements?

A*-G GCSE Grades. Ability to complete an entry assessment and interview.

Course Duration

Intermediate Apprenticeship takes up to 1 year (full time). The optional Advanced Apprenticeship will then take a further 2 years.

This course has progression routes available from Foundation Learning (Level 1), to Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2) then onto Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3), we are also in the progress of developing a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4)
