Who is this course for?

This course is aimed at school leavers aged 16-18 years, with an interest in Catering. Whilst on this course you will learn all the basic knowledge required to work within a Catering & Hospitality environment.

What will I learn?

On this course you will learn all the basic knowledge required to work within the Catering Industry. You will learn how to prepare and cook a variety of different products and all the Health and Safety procedures required to work in a commercial establishment.

Food Hygiene -How to store, prepare and cook safely
Health & Safety - Keeping yourself safe within the workplace
Preparation and cooking of a variety of different food products

What qualifications will I achieve?

NVQ Level 1 in Hospitality
You will also have the opportunity to achieve qualifications in the following:

Food Safety
Maths
English
ICT

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through observation of practical evidence and by completing evidence for your portfolio. This involves gaining knowledge whilst working in the kitchen and providing written statements on the knowledge acquired.

No formal qualifications are required to join the course.
Course Duration
6 months, 4 days a week.
