Who is this course for?

This course is ideal for school leavers aged 16-18 years with an interest in engineering.

What will I learn?

The multi skilled engineering course offers a variety of subjects including electrical & mechanical maintenance, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Fabrication and Welding and health and safety.
The training provides a comprehensive instruction to promote a high level of welding proficiency and provide learners with a sound theoretical understanding of the processes involved.
It has its own dedicated workshop facilities and there is space for all students to undertake individual training and work on group projects in an authentic manufacturing environment.
You will learn:
    Performing Engineering Operations in Fabrication and Welding
  • Working safely and with others on an engineering activity
  • Working with sheet metal and thick plate
  • Welding techniques and using oxy-fuel gas cutting equipment
  • Product Assembly

What qualifications will I achieve?

Intermediate Apprenticeship
  • Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Engineering and Technology
  • Level 2 NVQ in chosen field (e.g. Electrical, mechanical)
  • Level 2 Key Skills in Improving own Learning
  • Level 2 Key Skills in Working with Others
  • Level 1 Key Skills in Application of Number/Function Skills in Maths
  • Level 1 Key Skills in Communication/Function Skills in English
  • Level 1 Key Skills in Information and Communication Technology/ Function Skills in ITC
Advanced Apprenticeship

How will I be assessed?

You will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and skills. This involves collecting details of work performed while in your work place.

Entry Requirements?

A*-G GCSE Grades. Ability to complete an entry assessment and interview.

Future Opportunities

After undertaking the apprenticeship programme young people can progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship and then onto further qualifications such as; NVQ Level 4, HNC or a degree.
