This course is ideal for school leavers aged 16-18 years with an interest in gardening or horticultureWhat will I learn?
The course is designed for those who have an interest in horticulture/gardening or have limited horticulture/gardening experience. It will provide you with the relevant skills and qualifications that you need to work in a horticulture environment. It includes a large amount of practical/outdoor training and some theory training as well. You will also be required to attend functional skills sessions up to level 1 after an initial assessment.You will learn:
- Safe and effective working practices
- Planting of plants
- Maintenance of plants
- Maintenance of grass surfaces
- Vegetative propagation of plants
- Propagation of plants from seed
What qualifications will I achieve?
- Level 1 Award in Work-Based Horticulture (QCF)
- Level 1 Key skills/functional skills
How will I be assessed?
You will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and skills. This involves collecting details of work performed while in your work place.
