Course Title

Foundation Level - Certificate in IT User Skills Level 1

Who is this course for?

This course is aimed towards school/college leavers who require Maths and/or English development or who lack confidence and readiness to go straight into the workplace. The Foundation Learning programme offers the opportunity to gain an IT Level 1 qualification which will enable you to progress onto an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Business and Administration, Customer Service, IT Diploma or IT & Telecoms Professional. Additionally focus will be placed on gaining employability skills and a recognised qualification as well as basic Maths and/or English.

  • How to communicate effectively in person and using electronic means (such as; email)
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Interview skills
  • Use of office equipment
  • Expectations of a work environment
  • Confidence building and team work

What qualifications will I achieve?

  • Certificate in IT User Skills, Level 1
  • Certificate in Employability Skills, Level 1
  • Entry Level Functional Skills in Maths or English

How will I be assessed?

You will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and skills. This involves collecting details of work performed while in your work place.

This is a full time course, four days a week (Monday - Thursday) for five months.

This course is free to anyone aged 16-18 years. Eligibility will be checked at the interview stage.

Future Opportunities

This course has progression routes available from Foundation Learning (Level 1), to Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2), progression onto Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) would be via the Diploma for IT Users.
