The Motor Vehicle Technician will service and repair motor vehicles in modern workshops, using the most up to date diagnostic equipment.

The Person

A good mechanical aptitude and a logical approach to problem solving are essential, along with good communication skills. Motor vehicle technicians are expected to achieve good G.C.S.E. grade in Maths, English, and Science (preferably A-C), this will enable Apprentices to cope with the high level of technical training undertaken, both in the workplace and at college.

Career Progression

Successful applicants who complete both the selection tests and interviews will commence employment. You will aim to achieve an Apprenticeship Framework, which includes Technical Certificate, Key Skills and NVQ 2 all approved by The Institute of The Motor Industry. Most of those successful as Apprentices can then progress forward to an Advanced Apprenticeship framework consisting of a Technical Diploma, Key Skills and NVQ 3. At any time during your apprenticeship you may be given specialist product training by your company or attend manufacturers training courses. On completion of your Advanced Apprenticeship you can update your qualifications by using the Continuous Professional Development routes.
