This course is aimed at adults with learning disabilities. It is designed to increase confidence and encourage independent thinking.
You can each bring your own abilities and ideas to the group project and then work together, support each other, to complete that project.
In past courses our drama rooms have been transformed into everywhere from a 2nd World War air raid shelter to a beach in sunny Spain. We write our own stories using games and discussions. Then we make our own props – gas mask boxes, palm trees, a strawberry trifle made of tissue paper etc. We choose our own backdrops and background music. Last year we even made our own sound effects using percussion instruments. Then we act out our story either to an audience or we make a film to take home. The learners can learn to use the digital video camera. They can take part in drama by being on or off stage, in front of or behind the camera, wherever they feel comfortable. Wherever you find yourself in a drama class it’s certainly not boring!
