The Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery is aimed at learners who are able to commit to a more substantial qualification and wish to use this to prepare for, and progress to, the next level of learning ultimately leading to entering a job role in that area.
You will build your knowledge in Bricklaying and you will cover three core subject areas:
- Health, safety and welfare
- Technical information, quantities and communication
- Knowledge of construction technology
You will also learn key practical skills and knowledge in:
- Constructing cavity walling
- Constructing block walling
- Mixing construction materials
- Setting out for basic masonry structures
- Constructing brick walling
Age range: 16 – 18 years of age
This Level 1 qualification will give you an introduction to Bricklaying. This means you will learn the hand skills and knowledge required for you to progress on to the Level 2 in Bricklaying. You do not need any prior qualifications to undertake this Level 1 qualification.
This qualification will enable you progress in Bricklaying and on completion of this qualification, progress on to one of the following qualifications:
- Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying
- Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations
