Course Aims
This course is intended to encourage the development of design skills through practical project planning and production. Learners continue to develop understanding of the diverse properties of clay, through the study of specific techniques and materials with tutor support and guidance.
Entry Requirements
This course is aimed at advanced or learners that have substantial prior experience of ceramics practice.

Course Content
You will learn:
- Coiling, slab building, throwing on the wheel, sculpting and modelling clay
- Applying slip decoration and underglaze stains to decorate your work
- Applying glazes to your work to create attractive surfaces
- Well-resourced studio with 6 wheels and two large kilns. Extensive range of glazes (specialising in the cone 6 firing range), engobes and oxides available for use at any time.
Assessment Method
This course is classed as full cost/ learning for leisure which means that no paperwork or qualifications are involved. It is designed for those potters and ceramicists who want to keep making and learning new skills in a collaborative classroom environment supported by a qualified specialist tutor.
Where can it lead?
You may wish to progress on to one of our other pottery and ceramics courses or take a qualification in the subject. Such as:
Level 1 Award in Craft Skills using Natural Materials
Level 2 Certificate in Creative Crafts
