Early Years Settings Level 1

This short 12 week course is ideal for anyone who wants to work in a pre-school, nursery or reception class as it allows learners to gain an understanding of the provision of childcare available in early years settings. This course is suitable for parents and volunteers who would like to play a part in early years settings as this qualification is good if you are just starting out. Although it doesn’t qualify you to work with children or young people, it will help develop an understanding of what this might be like. It can also be good for developing the skills you may use in your day to day life.
This qualification develops a basic knowledge of childcare in early years settings, covering working with children up to the age of 5 years or the end of reception year. The units include such subjects as the value of play, roles and responsibilities of carers, volunteers and practitioners plus why it is important to develop links in the local community.
There is a two hour session each week in the centre for 12 weeks, during which you gain the knowledge to be able to compile the required evidence.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.
Learners can progress to the Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce qualification.
