This is a classroom-based, workshop-style, fun learning experience.
Using paper patterns, which will be provided, you will learn how to cut out and create a string of triangular flag bunting.
Your confidence will develop as your practical ability, skills and understanding, and knowledge of sewing techniques are utilised.
Tutor demonstration, advice, guidance, and practical support will be given throughout the session.
You will need to bring with you:
- 0.5m cheerful patterned fabric in spring colours, fat quarters may be used
- 0.5m plain fabric to line flags
- 1.5 m of bias binding in a contrast or matching colour
At the end of the session, you may have fabric left over to create more bunting flags.
This is a RARPA based course, assessment is carried out though building of a portfolio and taking part within tasks matched to the individual’s personal targets.
RARPA stands for Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement which is the process of assessment for non-accredited learning. It is a means of validating the outcomes of programmes which do not result in qualifications. RARPA is a five-stage process which measures and records learners’ progress, achievements and attendance.
Where can it lead?
You could progress on to further crafting, sewing and pottery/ceramics courses.
As a Hull Training and Adult Education learner, you have access to our Careers Advice Service. Our advisers are on hand to guide you through options and support you to achieve your full potential. Ask your tutor to refer you, if required.
