Course Aims

An ESOL writing course will help you to be confident in writing, including:

  • spelling correctly
  • choosing and developing your vocabulary
  • writing for different purposes, for example letters and emails
  • using verb tenses, prepositions, modal verbs, adjectives and other grammar features correctly
  • improving employment skill
  • helping your children with school work
  • moving on to further courses and/or getting work

Entry Requirements

Learners need to be at least at Level 1 in Writing.

An Initial Assessment session will be carried out before commencement of the course to ensure you are studying at the correct level.

You will learn about grammar techniques including:

  • present perfect
  • present perfect continuous
  • past perfect
  • past perfect continuous
  • future tenses including future continuous
  • future perfect
  • conditionals
  • passive
  • relative clauses
  • conjunctions
  • modal verbs

At Level 2 and 3 you will learn about vocabulary and phrases relating to:

  • work
  • education
  • the environment
  • experiences of living in different countries
  • sport
  • free time and hobbies
  • media
