Course Content

This qualification is now a recognised qualification by all employers.  It will demonstrate to future employers that you are willing to learn additional skills when needed. It will also help you with your own personal skills and, perhaps, help you to support your children.

Anyone wishing to use a computer more effectively at home, in an office, factory, in retail or set up their own business will gain from completing this course.

This qualification will be delivered to you by a highly skilled and experienced tutor who will discuss your individual needs to ensure you get the most out of the course.

It will enable you to develop a range of digital skills for work and life including:

  • Using digital devices and handling information
  • Creating, editing and storing digital media
  • Communicating through digital services
  • Safely carrying out online transactions
  • Being safe and responsible online

We offer this at Entry Level 3 and Level 1.  Your level will be assessed and agreed with you before you start the course to ensure the course will be right for you.

Assessment Method

Programme delivery will include a combination of structured learning materials and face-to-face delivery with the opportunity to use our online systems for support.  Each unit is assessed through the completion of skills and knowledge as you progress.

You will need to attend the centre each week and undertake the online exam at the end of the course.

Where can it lead?

The next levels for ICT are:

Essential Digital Skills – Level 1

ICT Functional Skills – Level 2

The more computer skills you have, the more confidence you will gain to research and obtain information for household and leisure activities, volunteering opportunities or even employment, if desired.  You may even wish to progress your IT knowledge towards specific careers in using digital media in the future.

As a Hull Training and Adult Education learner you have access to our Careers Advice Service. Our advisers are on hand to guide you through options and support you to achieve your full potential.  Ask your tutor to refer you, if required.
