Course Aims

To use folded book art to produce a book containing a heart as a Christmas gift but also ideal for other times of the year.

To improve learner’s health and wellbeing by engaging them in learning new skills and encouraging the build-up of relationships in the class, using IT skills.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements but learners should be able to measure accurately in centimetres/millimetres

For the course you will need :-

  • a hardback book (at least 50 pages)
  • ruler (in centimetres)
  • a pencil.

If you wish to cover the book, to decorate the outside you will need:-

  • fabric/paper
  • ribbon
  • glue

Course Content

This online course will introduce you to the basics of folded book art to produce a simple, but effective, heart contained within a book to display on a shelf.

The book can be covered with fabric or paper and decorated with ribbon for additional effect and make an ideal inexpensive present for friends or family.

Assessment Method

This course uses RARPA as its method of assessment.

RARPA stands for Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement which is the process of assessment for non-accredited learning. It is a means of validating the outcomes of programmes which do not result in qualifications. RARPA is a five stage process which measures and records learners’ progress, achievements and attendance.

Where can it lead?

This session will help to build your skills and confidence to progress to further adult courses either online or classroom based.
