You will learn practical sewing skills and techniques whilst working on a self-chosen sewing project making a garment suitable for your level of skill and ability. Your project is your choice, and may be a simple project such as an easy skirt or top, or a more difficult project such as fly front trousers. You will provide your own commercial pattern, fabric, threads and notions. The tutor will discuss your ideas with you at induction. During the course you will observe tutor demonstration and explanation of techniques and processes integral to garment construction. Some written work is required. You will complete a short booklet documenting your understanding of safety in the workroom, basic sewing requirements and sewing methods, techniques and processes.
