Course Aims

An exciting introduction to Graffiti and Urban Art with a focus on Skills and Employability.  This will be particularly valuable to those who are interested in pursuing a career in the creative sector, for example in Mural and Exteriors Decoration, Signage and Graphic Design industries.

Your journey will be guided through step-by-step tutor demonstrations and specialist tuition, and facilitated by group discussions relating to our perceptions of Arts & Culture, involving examples of successful creative projects and small businesses in Hull through ‘spotlight’ insights

Course Units

The practical course

  • Tag and Ident Design
  • Collaborative Mural Design
  • Creative Branding
  • Typography and Stencilling
  • Basic Printmaking – Mono-Printing, Photo Transfer and Paste-Ups.

Confidence in creative activity and communication skills will be promoted and developed through guided peer feedback sessions, and regular group discussion, and recommendations for digital applications and resources will be provided and explored to enrich your learning experience.

Accredited/RARPA statement

RARPA stands for Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement which is the process of assessment for non-accredited learning.  It is a means of validating the outcomes of programmes which do not result in qualifications. RARPA is a five stage process which measures and records learners’ progress, achievements and attendance

Where can it lead?

After this course there are a number of options for progression

HTAE Level 1 Award in Painting Techniques Qualification

HTAE GCSE equivalent Level 2 Certificate in Art & Design.
