Course Aims

If you have a solid basic knowledge in this subject and feel confident in completing multi step tasks and activities, this course is for you.

You will further your creative repertoire by exploring slips and engobe application on the surface of a self-designed vessel.

Course Content

During this six-week course you will learn practical clay/ceramic skills and techniques which will be embedded through a variety of pottery projects suitable for your level of skill and ability, by creating a ceramic project.

Topics included:

  • Designing your project
  • Techniques and skills that will help you to hone your hand building knowledge
  • Applying engobes and underglazes
  • Explore different clay bodies and learn how they can be used to help you to achieve your design aims

Assessment Method

This is a RARPA based course, assessment is carried out though building of a portfolio and taking part within tasks matched to the individual’s personal targets.

RARPA stands for Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement which is the process of assessment for non-accredited learning. It is a means of validating the outcomes of programmes which do not result in qualifications. RARPA is a five-stage process which measures and records learners’ progress, achievements and attendance.

You could progress on to further crafting, sewing and pottery/ceramics courses.
