Course Aims

Spend some quality ‘me-time’ having fun with fellow sewists learning how to make a decorative patchwork cushion cover.

Transforming pieces of fabric into a useful household item.

Meet new people, learn new skills, and have a good time being creative.

Entry Requirements

An ability to use a sewing machine competently, a love of sewing, imagination, a desire to have fun!

Course Content

This is a classroom-based, workshop-style, fun learning experience.

Using a paper pattern, which will be provided, you will learn how to create patchwork fabric which you will then transform into a cushion cover with an envelope back opening.

Your confidence will develop as your practical ability, skills and understanding, and knowledge of sewing techniques are utilised.

Tutor demonstration, advice, guidance and practical support will be given throughout the session.

** Please bring approximately one metre of plain fabric and half a metre of contrasting fabric.  This will allow you plenty, with some left over.  You may also wish to bring matching thread.

Assessment Method

This is a RARPA based course, assessment is carried out though building of a portfolio and taking part within tasks matched to the individual’s personal targets.

RARPA stands for Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement which is the process of assessment for non-accredited learning. It is a means of validating the outcomes of programmes which do not result in qualifications.
