This course provides you with a basic all round grounding in engineering operations and techniques. Based on national standards it had been developed to meet the needs of industry and can satisfy the requirements necessary to start a career in engineering or manufacturing.

The programme covers a range of engineering activities including electrical and mechanical maintenance, computer aided design (CAD), fabrication, welding and machining, along with a grasp of safe working practices, essential for anyone seeking to build a career in engineering.

You will learn

• Performing Engineering Operations in Fabrication and Welding
• Working safely and with others on an engineering activity
• Working with sheet metal and thick plate
• Welding techniques and using oxy-fuel gas cutting equipment
• Product Assembly

The programme will include mandatory requirements of the Apprenticeship framework; an NVQ, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT.

To enrol on this apprenticeship, you need to be aged 16 and over, ideally have GCSEs at
Grades A*- G (preferably English, Maths and IT)

You will be required to complete an entry assessment and interview.

We work with a large number of partner organisations who can provide employment as part of our apprenticeships. During the interview you will be able to find out more on how we can help and support you in finding employment.

On completion of the Apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to progress onto the Advanced Apprenticeship programme or employment. This could then lead to further qualifications such as NVQ Level 4, HNC or a degree.
