Course Aims
For those with no experience in the subject, or very basic knowledge. To provide instruction on best practice in hand-building techniques, increasing competence and artistic confidence over the course of six weeks.

Course Content
You will explore slab building techniques to create a Birdhouse, Lantern, Box or Oil/Wax Burner, incorporating texture methods, slip colouring and glazing.
Assessment Method
This course uses RARPA as its method of assessment.
RARPA stands for Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement which is the process of assessment for non-accredited learning. It is a means of validating the outcomes of programmes which do not result in qualifications. RARPA is a five-stage process which measures and records learners’ progress, achievements and attendance.

You may wish to progress on to one of our other pottery and ceramics courses or take a qualification in the subject, such as:
Level 1 Award in Craft Skills using Natural Materials
Level 2 Certificate in Creative Crafts
These skills could be used in the following job roles:

- Kiln Operative
- Own Business
