Course Content

This is a classroom-based, workshop-style, fun learning experience.

Using circles of fabric and buttons you will learn how to create poppy flowers which can then be attached to a preformed piece to create a wreath.

Your confidence will develop as your practical ability, skills and understanding, and knowledge of sewing techniques are utilised.

Tutor demonstration, advice, guidance and practical support will be given throughout the session.

Please bring along red fabrics of your choice, black buttons and a pre-formed wreath foundation. You may also bring matching red and black thread.

There are sewing machines and some sewing equipment, for example scissors, pins, etc. for your use at the centre.  However, you may wish to bring your own sewing tools and equipment. If you wish to bring your own sewing machinery and is more than 1 year old, it must hold a current PAT test certificate. The tutor will need to see evidence of this before it can be used.

Assessment Method

This course uses RARPA as its method of assessment.

RARPA stands for Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement which is the process of assessment for non-accredited learning. It is a means of validating the outcomes of programmes which do not result in qualifications. RARPA is a five-stage process which measures and records learners’ progress, achievements and attendance.
