Course Aims

The aim is to hand-build ceramic pumpkin lanterns using stoneware clay. You will also create pumpkin tealight holders in the afternoon using paper clay and/or stoneware clay.

Course Content

During this workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Hand-build ceramic pumpkin lanterns using stoneware clay
  • Create pumpkin tealight holders

Work will be available to collect a short time after the workshop.

Assessment Method

This is a RARPA based course, assessment is carried out though building of a portfolio and taking part within tasks matched to the individual’s personal targets.

RARPA stands for Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement which is the process of assessment for non-accredited learning. It is a means of validating the outcomes of programmes which do not result in qualifications. RARPA is a five stage process which measures and records learners’ progress, achievements and attendance.

Where can it lead?

You may wish to progress on to one of our other pottery and ceramics courses or take a qualification. Such as:

  • Basic Pottery Skills – short course
  • Basic Throwing on a Pottery Wheel – short course
  • Ceramics Advanced
  • Ceramics Masterclass

These skills could be used in the following job roles:

  • Ceramics Designer
  • Kiln Operative
  • Own Business
