Is your favourite shirt missing a button? Want to wear those new jeans but the legs are too long? Is some restoration required to fabric articles?
Bring your in-need garments and textile items along to the Avenues Repair Shop for some TLC. This session will teach you how to resurrect your favourite apparel.
Meet new people, learn new skills, and have a fun time extending your knowledge.
This course is available for learners new to Hull Training and Adult Education only. Learners who have previously enrolled on any course with Hull Training and Adult Education will not be eligible.
An enjoyment of sewing, prior experience of using a sewing machine, a desire to extend your knowledge and practical skills.

This is a classroom-based, workshop-style, learning experience.
Develop your sewing skills and repair your clothes and linens.
The tutor will advise you on appropriate techniques and processes to mend your pieces using the sewing machine or sewing by hand.
Tutor demonstration, advice, guidance and practical support will be given throughout the session.
You will need the garments or linens to be mended and any notions needed for the repair such as buttons or zippers. Please bring sewing thread in the colours required to match your items.
This course uses RARPA as its method of assessment.
RARPA stands for Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement which is the process of assessment for non-accredited learning. It is a means of validating the outcomes of programmes which do not result in qualifications. RARPA is a five-stage process which measures and records learners’ progress, achievements and attendance.
