Course Aims

If you have some knowledge of the Spanish vocabulary and basic Spanish grammar, then this virtual course is for you!

The course will be delivered online by an experienced tutor, using Teams.

During this course you will develop all areas of the language but focus mainly on the speaking and listening element, that will support you with correct pronunciation and develop your vocabulary knowledge in various topic areas as well as build up your grammar knowledge using different type of tenses, such as present, past and future.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific requirements to join this course, however you need to have some knowledge of the Spanish vocabulary and grammar. You may also benefit if you have attended our Level 1 Reading and Writing course, but it is not essential.

As the course is delivered online, you will need to have access to the internet and some basic IT skills. The tutor will guide you on how to access the virtual classroom, join the sessions, access all resources and familiarise you with the Teams platform.

Commitment to attend the sessions is essential to achieve all learning outcomes and gain the qualification.

Prior to enrolling to the Level 1 Spanish course, you will be invited to attend an induction session where an initial assessment will take place, to ensure you are at the right level for the course.

Course Content

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • use a range of words and sentences to form statements and questions in familiar situations
  • participate and contribute in short conversations and dialogues
  • understand spoken material express in Spanish and extract specific details

All levels of Spanish will be clarified from the initial assessment during the induction session.

Assessment Method

This as an accredited course and evidence of achievement is by creating a portfolio of evidence.

Where can it lead?

You may wish to develop your skills further in reading, writing and speaking in Spanish or gain a qualification at a higher level or you may also have an interest in some of our other courses such as sewing, pottery, computer skills, English or maths courses. Your tutor will be able to provide more information about this at the end of your course.
