What is the course about?
You will learn and further develop the range of skills required to play the ukulele. There will be tutor explanations and practical demonstrations to help you develop your skills as well as your knowledge of ukulele chord shapes. You will also further develop the ability and confidence to play both individually and as part of a group.
The course content will be negotiated to meet your needs and will include some of the following:
- Performing more complex song arrangements
- The history and construction of the ukulele;
- Playing closed chord shapes;
- Development of chord knowledge;
- Strumming and keeping time.
What do we expect from you?
You will need to have a good quality soprano, concert or tenor ukulele.
Additional equipment required is a good electronic tuner, a USB flash drive (memory stick) and an A4 binder.
Regular attendance is essential for progression to a higher level and you will be encouraged to practise techniques at home.
Recognising and recording your progress and achievement
As with all learning it is important for you to know how you are progressing. Your learning on this course will be recorded through the individual learning goals that you agree and set with your tutor at the beginning of each course. This will allow you to see, as you work towards those learning goals, how well you are learning, what you have achieved, and how you have progressed during the course.
You may also discuss what you would like to progress on to after the course to further your learning or career.
