The programme is an exciting and practical course for young people who enjoy gardening and wanting to work in outdoor jobs, but don’t have any previous experience. This qualification can lead to job satisfaction and an exciting career. It covers a wide range of areas from sowing to conserving the natural wildlife.

The units to be covered during this programme will include :
• developing skills in horticulture.
• Sowing and growing techniques.
• Cultivating compost and soil.
• Introduction to wildlife and conservation
In addition you will work on your English & Maths and have an opportunity to undertake a sustained period of work experience with a variety of employers and providers across the city. You will also be offered a number of additional courses that aim to support and prepare you for the future and your progress to employment and further learning. Our occupationally experienced tutors will support you through the course and help you develop your skills and experience within the sector. Opportunities to train in our occupational workshops within the Centre.

You will need to have a keen interest in wanting to develop your skills to work
in the horticulture industry.

This course can lead to employment or further study at a higher level horticulture course or study with a different area.
