Weigh your kitchen – Fun Family Maths Challenge
This challenge will help your child to develop essential maths skills using an everyday object that is found in most kitchens.
There are no entry requirements.
Children of any age can join our online Family Learning courses.
Please complete your enrolment 4 days prior to attending to ensure you have the relevant access to the online classroom.
Qualifications and assessment
This course uses RARPA as its method of assessment.
RARPA stands for Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement which is the process of assessment for non-accredited learning. It is a means of validating the outcomes of programmes which do not result in qualifications. RARPA is a five stage process which measures and records learners’ progress, achievements and attendance.
Get your scales out! We will set you some challenges – see if you can complete them using items from your kitchen. For example can you find 10 things which together weigh more than 1kg or less than 100g? Guidance on weights will be given, how many challenges can you complete? We will need to see your photographic evidence.
