Young People, Employability and Skills Lead and HTAE Governor
Responsibilities
Steve has been employed by Hull City Council for 9 years and currently leads the Young People, Skills and Employability (YPSE) service. This service operates primarily from Kenworthy House however also delivers its services from Schools, Colleges, and Training Providers across the city. The primary service offer aims to support vulnerable young people aged 15-29 back into employment, education and training. This service offer is complemented through a range of strategic employment and skills related activities, all of which support our core aims and objectives. As a Governor Steve will ensure HTAE continues to support some of the most vulnerable young people across the city and also ensure HTAE aligns strategically to local priority areas and initiatives.
Background
Steve has worked across the learning and skills sector for over 20 years and has been lucky enough to have had the unique experience of once being a YTS trainee with HTAE who has progressed to a senior management capacity in this sector. Steve has worked for a range of organisations over this period including several local and national training providers, a Local Authority and a Further Education College. Steve has a passion for all things relating to education, employment and skills; in particular, ensuring all young people make the most effective transition possible from education into the world of work.
