Study Programmes with Hull Training and Adult Education

Starting a career can be difficult and everyone at some point in their life needs a little helping hand to get them going in the right direction. Our Study Programmes can help you to achieve exactly that! They are personalised pieces of learning, designed to help you further develop your skills and help get you into employment and the confidence and skills to live independent.
All Study Programmes consist of three key parts; each part depends on your individual needs and provides you with a personalised programme that includes:

  • undertaking vocational work skills with accreditation, where appropriate
  • a programme of work experience
  • the development of English and maths functional skills

So while building on your existing skills, Study Programmes will stretch and challenge you to achieve your goals. The personalised Study Programme will provide you with work experience opportunities as well as working on basic English, maths and working with others to increase your confidence and employability.

What is a Study Programme?
Study Programmes give you the skills needed to get a job! Unlike other courses, this programme is all about you! You will come to one of our training centres and our friendly staff will help you grow your skills and gain some qualifications. One other big part of the programme is to prepare you for work. We show you how to look for jobs, help you with CVs and show you how to do well in interviews.

What age do I have to be to join?
To join us you have to be between 16 years old and 18 years old, not at school/college and not working more than 10 hours a week (if you’re 19 years old, you may still be eligible but you will need to check with us). For those of you in Year 11 and due to finish school this year, you can join Hull Training and Adult Education to complete your Year 12 education.

How long will it take me to complete?
The Study Programme is all about going at your own pace. However, you’ll probably need to be there about 16 hours a week for between 6 months and 12 months. If you get a job in this time, that’s even better and you can start employment whenever you are ready.
