Course Aims
You will learn a variety of different embroidery stitches and techniques, and complete embroidery templates.

Course Content
During this 10-week course you will:
- Learn the value of different fabrics in hand embroidery
- Learn about stabilising fabric and using a fabric hoop
- Look at mixed media hand embroidery
- Learn a variety of different hand embroidery stitches; split stitch, French knot, woven wheel, bullion, whipped stitch, chain stitch etc
- Complete template of stitches
- Create and design personal embroidery project
Assessment Method
Completion of templates, samples and personal embroidery project.
This is a RARPA based course, assessment is carried out though building of a portfolio and taking part within tasks matched to the individual’s personal targets.
RARPA stands for Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement which is the process of assessment for non-accredited learning. It is a means of validating the outcomes of programmes which do not result in qualifications. RARPA is a five-stage process which measures and records learners’ progress, achievements and attendance.
Where can it lead?
You could progress on to further crafting, sewing and pottery/ceramics courses. You could also gain the ability to upcycle your own clothes, create decorative pieces for the home, sell projects and create a small business.
