Why this apprenticeship?
This apprenticeship is designed for leaders and managers who are working in the engineering industry. It will provide you with the skills to become more organised at work, and to identify and prevent problems.
We’ve successfully delivered this apprenticeship for many years to local employers who recognise that up-skilling their workforce brings added value to their business, streamlines production and aids productivity.
Entry requirements
You will be required to have:
• Level 3 apprenticeship in engineering
• Maths grade 4 or above
• English grade 4 or above
Course content
Our experienced tutors are here to support you all the way and by the end of your apprenticeship you will have the skills and knowledge in one or more of a wide variety of engineering manufacturing activities including:
• performing engineering operations,
• research, design, new product development and introduction,
• engineering and manufacture,
• business improvement techniques.
• managing a team
• scheduling engineering activities
What qualification will I achieve?
Level 4 Framework – Manufacturing Engineering incorporating:
• EAL Level 4 NVQ Extended Diploma in Engineering Manufacture (QCF)
• Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Engineering

Here you will find some potential career pathways once you have completed your apprenticeship.
Senior Production Technician
Supervise and provide technical guidance to quality inspectors and junior engineering staff. Provide technical support to production and assist with product development. Solve technical issues within company and sub-contractors, suppliers and customers.
Mechanical Systems Senior Technician
Apply scientific and mathematical principles to the design, manufacture and operation of efficient machines, processes and systems
Senior Quality Technician
Develop and define project quality programme and plans, ensure continuous and effective operation of project quality performance and plans, perform project quality assurance auditing of contractors and suppliers
Senior Controls Technician
Work with other engineers and managers to discuss and develop rigs and systems design and support, to ensure smooth running of projects and effective delivery of the mechanical testing process
